Cabbage Patch

Every since Harper came home Sam has been desperate to take care of her. He wants to hold her, feed her, change her and rock her. He really gets in there and wants me out of the way. My mom has had the week off to help me out and she had a great idea yesterday. She saved my two Cabbage Patch kids- Blaine and Hazel- and brought Blaine over for Sam today. Now he has his own "ba ba" and he has been carrying him around all day... even to our music class. When I change Harper he pulls up right next to us to change his baby- perfect.

Sam has been very attentive to his "ba ba" today and has only dropped him on his head about 25 times!

Thankfully Russ doesn't care at all that his son is carrying around a "baby doll".

Sleeper

So, Sam slept through the night at 6 weeks and when I was pregnant with Harper I was hearing a lot of this:

Your next one probably won't be a good sleeper so be prepared...
Oh, you were just lucky...

Oh yeah??

Harper, who was 6 weeks old this past Thursday, fell asleep at 10:50 last night and she is still asleep. Not a peep from her all night long. That's right- it is now 6:50 am!!

Updates...

I haven't blogged much this week... I have been busy enjoying my time home with the kids. Sam has had what we will call a "vocabulary explosion". New words come falling out of his mouth every day and Russ and I just look at eachother in disbelief. He has been doing great- still adores his baby sister and is so sweet with her. He has adjusted to her so well and I knew he would. We have decided to put him in a 2 day a week(9am-1pm) 2 year old program in August. I am interested to see how he handles it. He has a very cautious side (me) but also a very social side (Russ) to him. Actually, I am really concerned about how I will handle it!

Harper, my sweet baby girl is doing great. She is the most cuddly, laid back little girl. She started smiling this week and has really started to respond to us when we talk to her. At the doctor today she weighed 10 lbs. 5 oz.... that's my eager eater! She is sleeping a nice long stretch at night and wakes up so happy to see mama. I am enjoying both of them so much and I look at these two amazing children and I just love being their mom. I always knew I wanted children but I love it more than I ever imagined...

Out and About

We had a very nice morning today. We headed down to Park Avenue because I was in desperate need of some clothes. I am down to my pre-Harper weight but not my pre-Sam weight- which I may never see again unless I work at it which I won't do. I made a mad dash through the store and luckily it all fits. I guess I can put my maternity pants away which I had still being wearing until today. I also picked up some sandals while we were down there. Sam loves running around the park and seeing the train and Harper slept great the whole time in her sling.

...................

I put Harper today in a dress today for the 1st time. When I opened the dress from Danielle I thought it came with a matching hat. Oh, I was wrong. It was a diaper cover... is that what they are called?! You can tell I am a new mom of a girl!

...................

Speaking of our girl, I think it is safe to say she is an easy baby. I have kept it to myself thinking one day things may change. I remember when we brought Sam home he slept and slept and then day 12 he woke up and starting crying and crying. Russ would walk him outside for hours in the evening and middle of the night to try to calm him. We thought we had it relatively easy with Sam and then along came Harper. She is so sweet. Makes me want another one...

Mouth full of goldfish!

She is smiling now all of the time at mama...
