Blogging For Change

Please go read this post by Meg and hopefully it will inspire you to act!

Big Spender

Ok, I will admit it. I tend to be more of a spender than a saver (My friend Amy is probably laughing out loud right now). Now since we have children I am more of a saver but I may have stumbled upon a problem. I went to a local baby boutique called Lulu Belle in Baldwin Park. They had the cutest most unique baby girl clothes I have ever seen. I went there to pick out a dress for Harper for our family photos we are having done for the holidays. I walked out with 4 more outfits and a dress. Russ asked me if they I had boy clothes. I'm not sure. I was too busy in the infant girl section.

I.could.not.stop.myself.

I have been back twice because of course they put me on their e-mail list and they had a 30% off sale and I HAD TO GO.

I left with 5 more outfits.

I had always been secretly scared of being in charge of dressing a little girl if I had one. Picking out clothes for Sam is so easy- polo,shorts- out the door. With girls I had visions of matching horrors, barrettes, skirts, leggings, shoes, bows, braids ETC.

Boy was I wrong. I love it.

Boots

My Aunt Pam went to England recently and bought Sam some Wellingtons. He loves them and wears them around the house constantly...

His face is covered in baked beans from dinner if you are wondering...

Stride

We have hit a good stride around here. Harper has fallen into a predictable nap/feeding schedule and is such a happy and content baby. Sam has adjusted well to school- when we pull into the parking lot he yells "YAY" and didn't shed a single tear today when I left him. I am learning how to effectively balance working and being a mom of two. Russ took a new position within his company and he is much happier there. Sam adores Harper and is so excited she does a bit more interacting with him now.

I love having two children. I am an only child and so accustomed to a family of three. I love being a family of four. It can be loud, chaotic and busy but our life feels so full.

Just thinking today how lucky I am.

I Think He Likes School...

Last night about 6 pm Sam asked to go to school and wanted us to put his backpack on him. He did not take it off until he went to bed!

A Work In Progress

We are slowly getting Harper's room pulled together. Here are some pictures of her furniture, bedding and butterflies hanging above her crib...

Check Up

Harper had her 4 month doctor's visit today weighing in at 13 lbs 13 oz and measuring 24 1/2 inches long. That puts her in the 75th percentile for weight and height. Harper was born with a flat head- the doctor said it was how she developed in utero and it was due to her position inside of me while her head was forming. She had mentioned that she may need a helmet to re-shape it but good news... she doesn't need one! We are a bit relieved because they are $2,500 and insurance does not cover it because it is purely for aesthetics.

Besides the hour long wait we had in the room for the doctor it was a good visit. It was a much easier visit than the last one with Sam!

Decorating

When I was pregnant with Harper we decided we would get a bassinet for the baby and keep the baby in that until Sam was ready to move into his bed. We assumed he would be ready by the time the baby was 3 or 4 months so it would work. We attempted to move him last week and he wasn't ready- he asked to go back to sleep in his crib. I had been secretly itching to decorate the nursery for her- I really thought I would have another boy but now that she is here I wanted to re-do the room girly. I really couldn't justify spending the money but now I can!

We painted her room over the weekend and her furniture should arrive this weekend. When we get it all set up I will post more pictures. Until then here are pictures of the room.I love it!

It was a year ago today I took a pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant with my sweet baby girl:)
