Brother & Sister

Not much going on around here this weekend to blog about. Sam has spent the whole weekend playing with his cars and trucks. I think running outside in the rain with Russ last night was the highlight. Harper has been eating and sleeping and non-stop smiling when she is awake- what a content little girl we have. We have enjoyed our family time at home this weekend. Here are some pictures of Sam and Harper hanging out together watching Caillou before nap time.

I love love love my new duvet set...

Cabbage Patch

Every since Harper came home Sam has been desperate to take care of her. He wants to hold her, feed her, change her and rock her. He really gets in there and wants me out of the way. My mom has had the week off to help me out and she had a great idea yesterday. She saved my two Cabbage Patch kids- Blaine and Hazel- and brought Blaine over for Sam today. Now he has his own "ba ba" and he has been carrying him around all day... even to our music class. When I change Harper he pulls up right next to us to change his baby- perfect.

Sam has been very attentive to his "ba ba" today and has only dropped him on his head about 25 times!

Thankfully Russ doesn't care at all that his son is carrying around a "baby doll".

Sleeper

So, Sam slept through the night at 6 weeks and when I was pregnant with Harper I was hearing a lot of this:

Your next one probably won't be a good sleeper so be prepared...
Oh, you were just lucky...

Oh yeah??

Harper, who was 6 weeks old this past Thursday, fell asleep at 10:50 last night and she is still asleep. Not a peep from her all night long. That's right- it is now 6:50 am!!

Updates...

I haven't blogged much this week... I have been busy enjoying my time home with the kids. Sam has had what we will call a "vocabulary explosion". New words come falling out of his mouth every day and Russ and I just look at eachother in disbelief. He has been doing great- still adores his baby sister and is so sweet with her. He has adjusted to her so well and I knew he would. We have decided to put him in a 2 day a week(9am-1pm) 2 year old program in August. I am interested to see how he handles it. He has a very cautious side (me) but also a very social side (Russ) to him. Actually, I am really concerned about how I will handle it!

Harper, my sweet baby girl is doing great. She is the most cuddly, laid back little girl. She started smiling this week and has really started to respond to us when we talk to her. At the doctor today she weighed 10 lbs. 5 oz.... that's my eager eater! She is sleeping a nice long stretch at night and wakes up so happy to see mama. I am enjoying both of them so much and I look at these two amazing children and I just love being their mom. I always knew I wanted children but I love it more than I ever imagined...

Out and About

We had a very nice morning today. We headed down to Park Avenue because I was in desperate need of some clothes. I am down to my pre-Harper weight but not my pre-Sam weight- which I may never see again unless I work at it which I won't do. I made a mad dash through the store and luckily it all fits. I guess I can put my maternity pants away which I had still being wearing until today. I also picked up some sandals while we were down there. Sam loves running around the park and seeing the train and Harper slept great the whole time in her sling.

...................

I put Harper today in a dress today for the 1st time. When I opened the dress from Danielle I thought it came with a matching hat. Oh, I was wrong. It was a diaper cover... is that what they are called?! You can tell I am a new mom of a girl!

...................

Speaking of our girl, I think it is safe to say she is an easy baby. I have kept it to myself thinking one day things may change. I remember when we brought Sam home he slept and slept and then day 12 he woke up and starting crying and crying. Russ would walk him outside for hours in the evening and middle of the night to try to calm him. We thought we had it relatively easy with Sam and then along came Harper. She is so sweet. Makes me want another one...

Mouth full of goldfish!

She is smiling now all of the time at mama...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I want to wish my cousin Wendy a happy birthday today! I wish we didn't live so far apart and we could celebrate together:)

Sam and Harper say, "Happy Birthday Aunt Wendy". We love you!

Old Friends

Mandy and I became friends in high school. The funny part of the story is when I first met her I said she looked like she would beat me up. Well, she never did and I can't think of a closer friend I have had through the years. I could fill pages and pages with memories we shared. We have been there for each other during so many stages of our lives.

I remember when she went out of state to college... I think I knew she would meet someone, fall in love and have children and never be back in Florida. Well, that happened and now she has 5 adorable kids with her husband Brian who she met in college. Since her parents moved I don't get to see her as much but we always keep in touch on the phone. How thankful I am to have a friend like her in my life.

With her busy life (I did say 5 kids) she found the time to send Harper a gift. She picked out an outfit that is exactly what I would have picked out. I love, love, love it and can't wait to put my baby girl in it. We really do still know each other so well.

Check out the ruffled sleeves and pants- too cute!

Off We Go...

I guess being sick and in the hospital does take a toll on you! I am just starting to feel a bit better- at least I have more energy today. I was up to heading out this morning with the whole family for the 1st time. We loaded up the kids and headed down to a local farmer's market. We had a great time and Harper slept in the sling our entire trip. Sam was stopping everybody to show off his new baby sister.

After that we stopped in at Target to get a couple of things and grabbed lunch on the way home. Ok, now I am tired. Off to take a nap:)
